The 3 Day Guarantee – More Days, Same Budget

From 5 January 2026, most families can access three subsidised days of early learning each week.

Starting in 2026, the Australian Government is introducing the 3 Day Guarantee, giving all CCS-eligible families at least 72 subsidised hours of early learning per fortnight — that’s around three days each week.

For many families who currently attend one or two days, this change means your child can enjoy more learning, play, and connection — often with little or no extra out-of-pocket cost. At Jenny’s ELC, we’re here to make sure you understand exactly how these changes benefit you and how to take advantage of them when they begin.

What the 3 Day Guarantee Means for Your Family

From 5 January 2026, every family receiving the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will be entitled to a minimum of 72 subsidised hours per fortnight, no matter how many hours of recognised activity they complete.

This change replaces the previous activity test for many families, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to attend at least three days a week in an approved early learning service. For First Nations families, the entitlement is even higher — up to 100 subsidised hours per fortnight — supporting greater access to education, connection, and community.

If your child is currently enrolled for one or two days each week, these new rules could make it easier and more affordable to add an extra day. Many families will see little to no increase in their weekly fees when they do.

More Days, More Learning

We see the difference that extra days make every day. Children who attend more regularly often settle faster, build stronger friendships, and engage more deeply in their learning.

An additional day each week gives your child more time to explore, create, and connect — and gives you more consistency at home. The 3 Day Guarantee makes this possible for more families, offering a new level of flexibility and stability in your routine.

Our team can show you what your 2026 enrolment could look like, explain how your CCS will adjust automatically, and help you hold your preferred days ahead of time.

How to Get Ready for 2026

You don’t need to re-apply for the Child Care Subsidy — your eligibility will roll over automatically when the new rules start. However, it’s a great time to review your 2026 enrolment plans and speak with your Centre Director about how the change could work for you.

We can run a quick estimate based on your family income and preferred number of days, showing you what your new out-of-pocket fees might look like once the 3 Day Guarantee begins.

If you’re thinking about increasing your child’s attendance or starting care in 2026, booking now ensures you have access to your preferred days when the new subsidy comes into effect.
